What is Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and how can we incorporate SEL into every day instruction?  There is a common misconception that the  State Standards have pushed Social and Emotional Learning further away from daily teaching and learning.  Our academic standards have the potential to enable great SEL teaching to happen as a part of rigorous academic instruction. In this interactive session, we will explore SEL competencies and a small subset of ELA, Math, Science, or History standards to see the potential connections for instruction. You will leave this session empowered to ignite your school community to embrace the philosophy, “SEL is not another thing on the plate, it is the plate.”
