Paraprofessional Success in Inclusive Classrooms
“There is no question that paraprofessionals play an increasingly prominent role in educating students with disabilities in the general education classroom. Their role in the classroom has expanded, based on the beliefs that they are a key support mechanism to operationalize inclusion education efforts particularly for students with severe disabilities” (Giangreco, Broer, and Edelman 2001).
This training will review the important role of the paraprofessional, instructional strategies, and evidenced-based behavioral practices. The workshop series of Paraprofessional Trainings can be customized to include: encouraging student independence, facilitating student participation, using non-verbal cues, encouraging peer relationships, integrating technology to support virtual and hybrid learning, and ways to collaborate with the general education teacher to meet the needs of the student.
